With the Oscars fast approaching, the #MoMAContendars are back with movie screenings at UCLA’s Hammer Museum. Whether they’re destined to be this year’s Oscar nominees or just historically significant, the MoMA has selected several note-worthy films that should be on every movie-lover’s bucket list. The best part? They’ll have celebrity guests speakers following each showing, such as Oscar winners Lupita Nyong’o and Steve McQueen.

Head to Beverly Hills to enjoy one of the holiday season’s most beloved films performed live. For the Record returns to the Wallis Annenberg Center for Performing Arts, with an immersive musical sure to win over even the most devoted Love Actually fans. From December 4th–31st, enjoy their reenactments of popular songs like Joni Mitchell’s, “Both Sides Now” and The Beach Boys, “God Only Knows.”

On December 9th, the Manhattan Beach Holiday Fireworks Show returns for its 29th year with a number of activities and exhibitions for the whole family. From their annual Snow Park and Sled Hill to the quintessential Santa Claus float and live music (all overlooking the Manhattan Beach Pier), this is one holiday spectacle you won’t want to miss.

Another big festival to attend, the annual Winter Fest in Orange County begins December 20th and runs until January 6th. The event features a 150-square foot mountain for ice tubing as well as SoCal’s largest outdoor ice rink with fresh snow blown in every single day. The massive festival has plenty of activities for everyone in your family with live music, Christmas tree lightings, carnival rides and firework shows. Even Santa and his reindeers are set to make an overhead appearance as they fly by on Christmas Eve.
