Say your goodbyes to 2018, because the new year is coming in hot. Los Angeles is no newbie when it comes to big events, and New Years Eve is definitely no exception. From fireworks and countdowns at city hall to the biggest burlesque show in the world, there’s always something for everyone to enjoy. Whether you’re looking for something low-key, or you love a good party, here’s our list of the top New Years Eve events happening this year in Los Angeles.

 

1. Fireworks at Marina del Rey

Head to the coast to enjoy a night of live music, dancing and fireworks at Marina del Rey’s annual firework show. The festivities begin at 7pm with a Glow Party featuring family friendly activities like face painting, bubbles, photo booths, and plenty of food trucks to keep you fueled. Watch the Times Square ball drop at 9pm with the little ones, or stay late until midnight — both times offer a 10-minute firework show.

 

2. Prohibition NYE at Union Station

Travel back to the 1920s for this massive Prohibition era-themed New Years Eve party, set in downtown’s 1930s Art Deco marvel, Union Station. Live DJ sets, jazz, burlesque dancers, custom cocktails and champagne all play up the ritzy theme. Be sure to dress to impress in your best 1920s attire and get ready to watch the 60-foot custom ball drop at midnight.

 

3. N.Y.E.L.A. at Grand Park

Head over to Grand Park to enjoy LA’s version of the Ball Drop in Times Square. With free admission, this communal countdown will have Aloe Blacc performing and an all-female slate of DJ’s, photogenic installations and food trucks. The countdown will be projected onto City Hall so you and thousands of fellow Angelenos can count down together.

 

4. Rose Parade

While technically, not a News Years Eve event, people do line up the night before to secure the best views of the Rose Parade on News Years Day. Beginning in Pasadena, this 5 ½ mile parade features floral-decorated floats, equestrian units, marching bands and the guest Grand Marshal: singer, songwriter Chaka Khan.

 

5. Dita Von Teese’s New Years Eve Gala Show

Queen of burlesque, Dita Von Teese is ringing in New Years Eve with a glittering performance at the historic Orpheum theater in downtown Los Angeles. Conveniently located just a 5-minute walk away form LEVEL DTLA, the Orpheum’s ornate venue is the perfect backdrop for this Golden Age era-inspired show. For die-hards, you can even purchase limited-edition meet-and-greet tickets to cheers 2019 with Dita after curtain call.
