Summer is officially here and there’s no better place to be than in downtown Los Angeles. From fireworks to fine cuisine, there is no shortage of outdoor events in the land of endless summers. Now in its fourth year, the four-day festival of music, film and culture is one of LA Live’s most successful annual events. The headliners for concerts this year include Usher, Bryce Tiller, 2 Chainz and Lil Wayne. Fan Fest is also a big attraction, which is a two-day line-up of free discussions, live music, fashion shows and even a sneaker convention.

Fourth of July Block Party At Grand Park

If you’re looking for a lively way to celebrate Uncle Sam, head over to Grand Park. This Fourth of July, Grand Park will be hosting a block party filled with food trucks, live music, and of course fireworks. The music begins while the sun is still in the sky, so get ready for a day of fun before you watch the DTLA sky light up.

Now that Cleveland has taken the title, we’ll have to wait another four long months until the new NBA season begins. Already going through basketball withdrawals? We’ve got you covered. This August, there will be hundreds of games held in front of Staples Center, which is just a 10-minute walk from LEVEL. The best part? It’s free to watch! The annual Nike 3 on 3 tournament draws 1,500 teams and 5,000 players across the state.

Chinatown Summer Nights

Whether you want to taste the culinary offerings of Chinatown or L.A.’s gourmet food trucks, catch cooking demonstrations or dance the night away, there’s something for everyone of all ages.

After 5 Concert Series

This past Spring the Hauser Wirth & Schimmel gallery opened in the Arts District, and to mark its first summer in DTLA, they’re putting the open-air courtyard to good use with a free concert lineup. The After 5 series takes place every Thursday and starts at (you guessed it) 5pm. The gallery will be featuring a different musical act each week.
