Now in its 9th year, the DTLA Film Festival returns from September 21-30. As a proud sponsor, we’re looking forward to this year’s lineup of films from all over the globe. With screenings at Regal L.A. Live, less than a mile away from LEVEL, our furnished apartments are the ideal location for your stay during the festival.
This exciting event will screen over 100 films of all genres, including 30 documentary and narrative feature-length films. Premiering for the first time in Los Angeles, these films have been sourced from some of the top film festivals in the world such as Sundance, Tribeca, and SXSW. The lineup features some of the best in today’s Indie cinema, several of which will be released theatrically later this year.
The DTLA Film Festival is dedicated to showcasing independent cinema in the historic and creative capital of Downtown Los Angeles. This year’s theme is “Movies. Not Walls.” It aims to use universal cinema to build bridges, not barriers, between different cultures. The signature curated film series reflects this theme. Entitled Enemy Nations, it’s a series of foreign films that refers to how certain nations suddenly became identified as anti-American, and gives the audience a chance to make their own opinion on where the enemy lies.
The programming of the DTLAFF celebrates the renaissance of Downtown L.A., reflecting its vibrant new urbanism and unique neighborhoods. “One of the missions of our nonprofit film festival is to reflect the rich ethnic-cultural diversity and creative free spirit of DTLA and its surrounding environs. We believe our audiences will agree that this year’s line-up wholeheartedly embraces that mandate,” said Greg Ptacek, festival director.
As well as films, the festival will include musical performances, seminars, and interactive activities. The DTLAFF producers have generously offered a 25% discount on festival tickets to LEVEL guests while quantities last. To get yours, contact our concierge team!
