Copy of Summer Bucket List: Things To Do in Vancouver

July 26, 2018

It’s hard to believe that we’re now halfway through summer. These hot sunny days sure go by quickly, which means there’s only a few weeks left to check off everything on your summer bucket list!

From biking to hiking to brewing, there are so many fun things to do around Vancouver. If you’re up for an adventure, then rally your troops and start making plans to add these into your August calendar.

1. Bike Around Seawall

You’ll find access points to our famous Seawall all within a few blocks from Level Furnished Living in Vancouver. Grab your wheels out of our complimentary bike storage locker, rent one at a nearby shop, or sign-up for the Mobi-Bike Share.

Next, plan your stops. There are plenty of places to eat, hydrate and take in the views as you make your way around the Seawall. We recommend Mahony & Sons Stamps Landing for a breathtaking waterfront view, a pit stop at rest your legs at Second Beach, and a delicious bite to refuel at Cactus Club in Coal Harbour.

2. Celebration of Light

Since 1990, the Honda Celebration of Light has brought people together for a musical fireworks competition held every summer. A celebration of world class fireworks, food, and music, it draws large crowds every time — and for good reason.

If you’re not one to wait for hours in order to save a spot on the beach, then you could always reserve seats at the YVR Observation Deck for a great view of the show.

3. Go for a Hike

Home to some of the best hikes in the world, if you love the outdoors and want to step out into nature, you’ll never run out of options in Metro Vancouver. For a beginner to intermediate hike, Quarry Rock in Deep Cove is always a favourite. Once you reach the top, you’ll enjoy endless vistas of Port Moody and beyond (plus enjoy those famous Honey’s doughnuts when you’re done!).

For those up for a greater challenge, head straight up to the Grouse Grind in North Vancouver. You can also venture over to the The Chief or Sea to Summit in Squamish. Both are guaranteed to get your heart rate up, and take between 2 to 4 hours to complete depending your fitness level.

4. Watch an Outdoor Movie

Pack a picnic, grab a blanket, and head out to watch a movie in a picturesque backdrop (with a few hundred other people!). Not only are these outdoor movies free, but they’re a great way to spend a date night with your significant other, or a fun outing for your family. From Stanley Park to the Vancouver Art Gallery, check out the full schedule here.

5. Craft Beer Tour

Over the past few years, Vancouver’s craft brew scene has evolved like never before. We’re now home to some of the best and most innovative brewers in the world. Grab that bike or head on foot to start touring and sampling our homegrown beer varieties.

There are now over 120 breweries in B.C., many of which are right here in Vancouver. Some local favourites include Red Truck, Brassneck Brewery, Strange Fellows, and Main Street Brewing. The list really could go and on! You could also sign-up for a craft beer tour and leave it to the experts.
