Summer is just around the corner, and May is lining up to be an exciting month in Vancouver. With Playland opening up, a Cinco de Mayo festival at Robson Square, and the BMO Vancouver Marathon, it’s time to get outside this May. The team at LEVEL is sharing what we’re excited for in the coming month, to help you maximize your vacation rental during your time in Vancouver.

Get ready for thrilling rides, arcades and prizes, and mini donuts to take over your weekends. Playland is opening its doors for weekends and holidays on Saturday May 6th. This year, Playland is introducing three new family rides: the Bug Whirled, the Dizzy Drop, and the Flutterbye. Whether you’re looking for family fun or a day out with friends, Playland’s got you covered.

When: May 6 onwards, Saturdays, Sundays and holidays from 10 am – 6 pm
Where: 2901 East Hastings Street, Vancouver

Cinco de Mayo at Robson Square

The Cinco de Mayo celebrations are starting early this year! On May 5th and 6th, Wet Ape Productions is hosting a Mexican fiesta at Casa de Amigos at Robson Square. The 19+ event will offer the best of Mexico, from food and drinks to music and culture. Enjoy Mexican street food at its finest – the festival will be serving up tacos, ceviche, and churros just to name a few. Wash it all down with a smoky Mezcal, or try a classic tequila cocktail or beer. Live Mariachi bands and salsa dancers will add to the authentic Mexican experience – you don’t want to miss it. Salud!

When: May 5th from 5 pm – 11 pm and May 6th from 3 pm – 11 pm

BMO Vancouver Marathon

Every May, Vancouver hosts a world-class international marathon for runners from all over the world. This year, the 45th annual race is taking place on Sunday May 7th. Voted one of the world’s top destination marathons by Forbes, CNN, and USA Today, the race weekend offers something for everyone, with a full marathon, half marathon, 8 KM race, relay, kids run, and walk. Last year’s race saw 16,500 registered participants, with even more expected this year. It all starts on Thursday May 4th with a free Expo at Canada Place running until the 6th.

Where: Throughout Vancouver, finishing on West Pender Street between Bute and Thurlow Street
