The snow has melted, days are getting longer and winter is finally behind us. On the streets, pink and white buds are starting to appear on branches. There’s no denying it now, spring is officially here! That means that the Vancouver Cherry Blossom Festival is right around the corner. Running from March 30th to April 23rd, here are our picks for some of the can’t-miss events for the 2017 Vancouver Cherry Blossom Festival.
The festival kicks off with a free lunchtime concert downtown at the Burrard SkyTrain station. Grab a spot under the blossoms and enjoy as local entertainers provide an ode to the season.

The lush grounds of VanDusen Botanical Garden are the perfect setting for this weekend-long celebration of Japanese culture. Take part in origami and calligraphy workshops, sip on some sake, enjoy some Japanese food and experience the special ritual of the Japanese tea ceremony. While you’re there, don’t miss the lantern parade that will be occurring Saturday night at 6:30 pm. Tickets are available online here and can also be purchased in person at VanDusen.

The cherry trees at Queen Elizabeth Park are always a seasonal highlight. Featuring local artists in a breathtaking LED display, the blooms are lit up, making this event a highlight of the Vancouver Cherry Blossom Festival. Telling the story of Canada’s evolution as a cultural mosaic, Spring Lights celebrates Vancouver’s diverse ethnic communities through digital media art, dance and music.
