The LEVEL Low Down: Weekend Brunch

April 10, 2017

Whether it’s hot, cold, rainy, or sunny – and we’re used to it all in Vancouver, one thing you can always count on is weekend brunch. With no shortage of amazing restaurants to choose from, we’ve narrowed it down to some of the best spots to spend your weekend mornings.

West Oak

In the heart of Yaletown, West Oak prides itself on its ethically and locally sourced ingredients. With seasonal dishes featuring grass fed beef, Oceanwise seafood and free range chicken, West Oak’s menu offers a wide selection. Brunch includes typical breakfast favourites, as well as appetizers, salads and sandwiches. Standouts include their Lobster Benedict, as well as their piping hot cast-iron skillets.

Nothing says brunch like mimosas – lots of mimosas. The Distillery is the place to go for a boozy brunch, serving pitchers of mimosas for an unbeatable $10. Friday through Sunday from 10 to 3, choose from 13 different breakfast dishes all for $10 each. From scrambles and hashes, eggs benedicts and pasta dishes, you really can’t go wrong at this Yaletown gem.

Café Medina

Since it opened its doors in 2008, Café Medina has been a go-to spot for brunch lovers. With its Mediterranean inspired cuisine, the menu here is unlike anything you’d find at most brunch spots. As well as dishes like Paella and Couscous, the coffees here are a must-try. We recommend the lavender latte, or the white chocolate pistachio rosewater mocha. Stylish and charming, there’s almost always a lineup for this spot, but we promise it’s worth the wait.

Nero Waffle Bar

If you’ve got a sweet tooth, just head downstairs to Nero Waffle Bar. Whether you like your waffles on their own, or topped with fruit, whipped cream, chocolate or ice cream, Nero’s got you covered. Not such a sweet tooth? They also serve savoury waffles – think smoked salmon and prosciutto.
