Staff Spotlight: Sara Steer

February 9, 2017

This week, we’re bringing you a special Staff Spotlight edition of the LEVEL blog, where you get a chance to meet some of the people who keep LEVEL up and running. With over 60 associates working with us, there are a lot of stories to tell!

Today, we’re happy to introduce you to our Guest Services Manager, Sara Steer. Sara joined our team in May of 2013, and has been with us ever since!

Where are you from?

Vancouver, born and raised!

What is a typical day at work like?

My shift normally starts at noon. I get in and check in with the Guest Services agent to see how their day is going and usually right away get to send them on their lunch break! The rest of the day is spent tackling whichever tasks come my way; guest special requests, follow-ups, training and supporting my team. I usually work until about 8:30pm, so I get to meet and greet all of the new guests checking in and have a chance to chat about Vancouver with them. I end my day making sure all of the requests are done and coordinated with all the departments and make sure everything that the evening and overnight staff will need is in order!

What has been your most memorable experience working at LEVEL?

I have a few, but I would have to say that my favorite moment was meeting one very special guest: Crystal the Monkey! I love animals, so interacting with her in the lobby and seeing the guest’s reactions was absolutely amazing.

What is the best part of your job?

I love everything about my job! However I think that if I had to choose, it would have to be hearing guest feedback about how enjoyable their stay was, and how the LEVEL team went above and beyond their expectations.

What is your favorite thing about Vancouver?

The summer!

What is your favorite restaurant in the area?

Definitely Calabash Bistro in Chinatown.

Where is your favorite place to grab coffee?

Nero Waffle Bar makes a mean Americano to get you through the mid-day slump!

And lastly, what is your favorite way to relax and unwind?

I would like to say the gym, however a glass of wine on my rooftop patio may take the cake!
